This retaining ring is used in DSG DQ380, DQ381, and DQ500 transmissions and ensures that the clutch pack is securely positioned inside the transmission housing. It prevents axial forward and backward movement of the clutch assembly, helping to maintain correct clearance and preload values. This allows the clutch system to operate smoothly, stably, and efficiently without vibration. During clutch replacement or transmission overhaul, this retaining ring is removed and, due to the risk of dimensional deviation and loss of elasticity, it is generally recommended to replace it with a new one. A worn or incorrectly selected retaining ring may cause vibration, knocking noises, clutch slippage, and premature clutch wear.
