Description of the problem and solution:
This repair kit is specifically developed to permanently solve the chronic issue and fault code P288400 (K0 clutch for engine disengagement – stuck in open or closed position) in VAG hybrid vehicles.
The cause of the failure is not the complete mechatronic unit itself. Over time, due to hydraulic oil pressure, the factory-installed mesh filter inside the seal breaks off and enters the solenoid valve N218 directly, causing it to jam.
When the valve gets stuck, the system loses control of the K0 clutch; the combustion engine cannot start, the vehicle operates only in electric (EV) mode, or the transmission goes into limp mode.
Instead of an expensive complete mechatronic replacement at authorized service centers, installing this kit (new N218 valve and reinforced seals) provides a permanent and cost-effective solution.
After installation, a basic transmission adaptation (calibration) using diagnostic equipment is required.
