In the DL501 (0B5) 7-speed S-tronic transmission, hydraulic pressure control is managed by the N471/N472 combined pressure sensor integrated into the mechatronic unit. This component is physically a single sensor, but it contains two measurement channels: one monitors the main line pressure and the other monitors the clutch control pressure, transmitting both values to the transmission control unit. Based on this data, the control unit continuously adjusts hydraulic pressure to ensure proper clutch operation and smooth gear shifts. Sensor faults may cause harsh or delayed shifts, shudder, clutch slip, and activation of limp mode.
